Election day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, polls open 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. But it starts before that: you must be registered by Monday, October 5, 2026 at 4:00 PM — if you don't register, you can't vote. Kentucky gives everyone three days of no-excuse early voting. Same ballot, same machines, shorter lines. Excused in-person absentee voting also runs October 21–23 and 26–28 for voters with a listed excuse.
Early-voting hours and locations are posted by the Nelson County Clerk as the dates approach.
Request window: September 19 – October 20, 2026
Voters who meet state eligibility (out of county on election day, illness, work hours, age 65+, and other listed reasons) can request a mail ballot online. Your ballot must be received by the County Clerk by 6:00 PM on election day — mail it back early or use the county drop box.
The request portal closes at 11:59 PM on October 20 — don't wait for the last night.
